A tipi wedding in Woolley Estate boho-chic style

A masterclass in fun, intimate boho romance

Aimee and Liam’s relaxed tipi wedding in Woolley Park Estate was how I think all weddings should be; a beautifully styled celebration of love, family, and friendship. It was romantic, intimate, and filled with laughter, music, and fun. And above all, it was theirs.

With an outdoor woodland ceremony overlooking the Oxfordshire hills, a rustic tipi reception, and stunning styling throughout, this wedding is packed with beautiful boho inspiration. If you’re dreaming of having your wedding in Woolley Park, come take a look.

Boho bridal styling in Woolley Park

Our day began in the supremely comfortable rooms of Woolley House. Huge windows filled the room with natural light and offered beautiful views out across the grounds. The champagne flowed, and Aimee had all the time in the world to soak it all in. And enjoy the morning together with her girls.

Aimee wore a stunning Lillian West dress from Laura May bridal. The off-the-shoulder dress with a delicately embroidered fitted bodice and a gently flowing skirt was perfect for the boho-chic style of the day. She completed the look with an unstructured bouquet of whites and purples, a delicate pearl headpiece, and elegantly natural hair and makeup.

When she’d finished getting ready, her father greeted her at the door and took her by the arm. And together we walked across the grounds of Woolley Park to where her husband-to-be was waiting.

When we were almost there, I left Aimee with her gang and ran ahead to capture her entrance. The set-up was just stunning!! A gorgeous outdoor ceremony set up beneath the canopy of trees. And all with the breathtaking backdrop of the rolling Oxfordshire hills. You simply can’t beat a woodland ceremony with a view!

Liam stood at the altar, his eyes scanning the trees for his bride. And as soon as he saw Aimee, he broke into the widest of smiles. As a wedding photographer, it’s always difficult to choose a ‘favourite’ part of a wedding day. But the look on Liam’s face when he saw the love of his life in a wedding dress was definitely up there!

The ceremony was simple, honest and pure. Just two best friends, in the company of their loved ones, promising themselves to each other for life. The celebrant made it official, Liam and Aimee kissed and hugged. And a huge cheer rose from the guests and scattered out into the trees.

Couples portraits in the woods

The reception area had been set up a little walk away from the woodland. So after the ceremony, we all walked together through the woods and out into the open fields to where drinks and nibbles were waiting.

With autumn and winter weddings, sunlight is precious! So while the guests were all chatting away happily, I snuck Aimee and Liam away for their couple’s portraits.

I’m such a huge fan of the couple’s session on a wedding day. Those few precious moments away from all the attention and the excitement, where you just get to be alone together as a married couple. Photos aside, it’s a really special part of the day.

And there are few better places to have some time alone together than in the woods. As we strolled together through the trees, the noise of the distant guests was swallowed by the woodland. And for the first time as husband and wife, Aimee and Liam got to just be. With nothing but the sound of their laughter, the wind in the trees, and the autumn leaves rustling beneath their feet as they danced.

Boho reception styling inspiration with a tipi wedding

The reception space inside the main tipi was a boho-chic dreamland! Oak trestle tables were topped with wildflowers in empty gin bottles and hemp napkins for each guest. Fairy lights were wrapped around the beams of the tipi, filling the space with twinkling light. And a deck of festoon lights hung from the centre, bathing the rustic tablescapes in a warm golden glow.

And I loved the personal touches, too. Aimee and Liam had named each table after their favourite board games (apparently they have quite a collection!) And used the art from the boxes as the table signs. And instead of wedding favours, they’d given each guest a voucher for a drink from the cocktail truck outside.

Oh, and the food. Oh, the food! We had pulled pork wraps, slow-cooked brisket, and jerk chicken breast. I’m not just saying this, it was some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had.

And between the food, the twinkling lights and the boho styling, the atmosphere in the tipi was incredible. We laughed, we chatted away happily, we listened to the awesome speeches. It felt like a chilled-out family dinner with a hundred people!

It isn’t a tipi wedding without a tipi party!

After the amazing food (did I already tell you the food was amazing?!) we all spilled out of the tipi and into the autumn air to where the cocktail truck awaited!

It was an afternoon of cocktails and hay bales, crackling wood fires, and log-fired pizza! Aimee and Liam chatted away with their guests, laughing, drinking. And just enjoying being surrounded by the people they love. And you know what? Give me a relaxed afternoon in a field over a fancy venue any day.

As the sun began to set, it was time to party! We all crowded back into the tipi and partied the night away to an epic live band. Cocktails were flowing, and the sounds of drums, guitars, and dancing feet filled the tipi and carried out across the grounds.
