Champagne, colour, and black-tie style
Lucy and Chris’ wedding in Post Barn Newbury, was hands down one of my favourite weddings!
The aesthetic? Black-tie styling, with bursts of colour. The vibe? Personal, completely epic, and just *tons* of fun!
We had gorgeous modern styling from an absolute dream team of suppliers. There were Baby Guinness shots, a champagne tower, and a champagne spray! Every moment was considered; every guest was cared-for.
And as night fell, Club Kudo brought the energy, and a wild party filled the barn.
But my favourite thing about this wedding was Lucy and Chris themselves. So present in every moment, so infectiously happy, and so head-over-heels in love.
With styling from Etiquette Events, and planning from Georgina Rose (the team behind The Unfiltered Bride Podcast), L&C’s wedding in Post Barn is a goldmine of colourful-chic inspiration. Come take a little look…
Post Barn wedding venue in Newbury
As wedding venues go, Post Barn in Newbury is a bit of an up-and-coming youngster. They opened their doors in July 2021, and already it’s one of my favourite wedding venues in Berkshire.
You can have an outdoor ceremony by the pavilion, or beneath the epic archway of the barn. There’s an outdoor kitchen, and a spacious terrace. And as you step inside the English oak barn, you have roaring fires, vaulted ceilings, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking gardens.
Oh, and it’s the perfect place to party!
They have no official noise limits (yep, you read that right!) And just down the road, there’s the Donnington Valley Hotel with 111 rooms, just 14 minutes walk (or 20 if you zig-zag).
Are they new to the wedding scene? Yes, but don’t let that put you off. Post Barn wedding venue is genuinely incredible.
A morning of moments, and Madi Lane
Lucy and her girls got ready in The Post Barn’s gorgeous on-site dressing room.
Prosecco flowed, music played, summer sun poured through the huge windows. And already, the photo-friendly details were on point! They had matching PJs, a ‘wedding day’ newspaper, and personalised hangers. (Needless to say, the detail-loving wedding photographer in me was happy as a clam!)
Lucy wore the stunning Prestyn gown from Madi Lane Bridal. The bow, the leg split, the flowing train…ahh! *What* a dress! She completed the look with natural makeup, a white floral headpiece, and a gorgeous white, blush, toffee and magenta bouquet.
But my favourite part of the morning was the little moments in between.
The love letter from Chris, and tears that followed. Lucy’s mum doing up her buttons, and helping with her pearls. That hug with her dad; seeing his little girl in her dress and burying his face in her shoulder.
It was just the best way to start the day. And with their tears dried (and their Prosecco drained!), we headed out into the sunshine for the ceremony.
An outdoor wedding ceremony in Post Barn
Lucy and Chris had an idyllic outdoor ceremony in the gardens of Post Barn wedding venue.
Simple white chairs sat on the sun-warm grass. Floral meadows framed the top of the aisle, and spectacular floral colours framed the altar,
Live music played as Lucy walked down the aisle.
And the ceremony was perfect- intimate, and personal. Lucy and Chris never stopped laughing, and holding hands. And as they said their vows beneath the dramatic arch of the barn, a huge cheer filled the gardens, and scattered the birds from the trees.
A little while later, they were walking beneath the arch of wisteria, and kissing in a shower of dried-petal confetti.
Drinks, nibbles, and couple shots in the grounds
The drinks reception was wonderful- fun, warm, and unhurried.
There were drinks and nibbles in the sun-drenched gardens. We did group shots on the lawns, and wedding party photos backdropped by the barn.
And while the guests were mingling happily (and working away on the ‘Sip and Solve’ Lucy & Chris Crossword), I stole L&C away for a stroll around the grounds.
The grounds of Post Barn wedding venue are simply stunning, especially in the summer. Sun dappled through the trees, birds chirped and sang. And for a little while, it felt like we had the world to ourselves.
And honestly, Lucy and Chris were just SO much fun to hang out with! That *just married* buzz, that infectious happiness; the look in her eyes, the smile on his face…
These guys just adore each other. And I loved that I got to whisk them away, and give them a few moments just for them.
Reception styling inspiration for your wedding in Post Barn
The Post Barn, Newbury is a truly stunning space for your wedding breakfast. Rustic and modern, with stone floors, and wooden beams. And filled with natural light, pouring through *those* floor-to-ceiling windows.
And oh my, the tablescape was exquisite.
Banqueting tables ran the length of Post Barn, with the head table backdropped by epic floral columns, repurposed from the ceremony.
The stationary was elegant, and understated; vases of blush roses and gypsophila brought gorgeous splashes of colour. And as a wonderfully personal touch, Lucy had made personalised Swifty-inspired bracelets for every single guest!!
Lucy & Chris had a walk-through together, and took it all in, just the two of them.
And once the guests had taken their seats, Lucy and Chris made their ‘official’ entrance. A huge cheer filled the post barn, and blush-pink napkins filled the air.
When the sunset calls, you answer!
The food was delicious; the speeches were downright hilarious!
And while the guests were finishing the last of the wine, the most gorgeous pink sunset streamed through the barn windows, and I snuck Lucy and Chris outside for some last minute couple photos.
The grounds were peaceful, and secluded. Filled with evening birdsong, and that wonderful calm that comes at sunset.
We went over the fields and far away, exploring the grounds together, and finding some space away from the crowds. They kissed beneath the arch of fairy-lights; the ground still scattered with confetti.
And with the barn glowing invitingly in the dusk, we headed back for the party.
Champagne (tower) Supernova
When we got back to the barn, the ‘party’ part of the day had officially begun!
They had an epic champagne tower, and Baby Guinness shots. And as the champagne and shots flowed, Club Kudo came out playing sax and percussion to Champagne Supernova!
Everyone was singing and cheering…just good, good vibes all the way!
A little while later, Lucy was changing into a gorgeous evening dress before the first dance.
We had a ‘first look’ with Chris, sparklers on the steps outside, and a wildly unhinged champagne spray! And with the music calling us from inside the barn, we headed inside to dance the night away.
